Boil a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a cup of milk and give it to your child to drink before bedtime.

2. Almonds

4. Honey

Honey is highly effective in fighting off the symptoms of sleep apnea. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce swelling around the throat area that usually obstruct airways. Adding further, it also lubricates the throat to prevent snoring, which is one of the most common symptoms of sleep apnea. Adding further, honey also promotes relaxation and sleep.

Add a tablespoon of raw honey to a glass of lukewarm water and give it to your child to drink daily before bedtime.

5. Lavender

This is yet another popular remedy to deal with the symptoms of sleep apnea, not only among adults but among kids as well. It contains soothing, relaxing, and sedative properties to prevent muscle obstruction in the throat, thus providing a sound and undisturbed sleep. Just add a few drops of lavender oil to a tub of hot water and ask your child to inhale the steam before bed.

6. Cinnamon

As per Ayurveda, cinnamon contains sedative properties to help you sleep better. It also treats breathing disorders associated with sleep apnea. Just add a tablespoon of grated ginger and a medium-sized cinnamon stick to a cup of hot water. Boil it for a few minutes. Strain and give this water to your child daily. You can also add honey for taste.

As parents, it is your responsibility to show sensitivity towards your child and protect his sleep. Just as you ensure that they eat properly and regularly, try to make sure that your child gets sufficient and sound sleep. Try to instill good sleep habits in your child at an early age.
