Unripe Papaya

The unripe or partially ripe papaya contains latex which triggers uterine contraction. This leads to miscarriage. All forms of food that have papaya or contains papain enzyme should be restricted during the third and the final trimester of pregnancy. However, completely ripe papaya works brilliantly during pregnancy. It contains some very essential nutrients which can be very beneficial in controlling constipation and heartburn in the initial days of pregnancy. Ripe papaya contains very less amount of papain and is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. This is why they work well during pregnancy.

Pineapple

Eating pineapple may not give you good results during pregnancy. So, it’s better to avoid them. Pineapple contains bromelain which can lead to softening of the cervix. This increases the chances of early labour and premature birth. But, if you are a pineapple fan, then it may become hard for you to resist this fruit for a longer time. So, intake of pineapple in moderate amount or occasionally does not lead to any problem in labour or delivery. But, you need to make sure that you avoid it in the first trimester because in the initial months, softening of cervix can cause a problem. So, this is why pineapple is restricted during pregnancy.

Grapes

A grapes lover? Sad news for you then! Grapes are not allowed during pregnancy. Well, this is a quite debatable topic among many scientists. The main reason behind restricting this fruit for pregnant women is the pesticides that are sprayed on the grape plants so as to save them from insects. This yummy fruit also contains resveratrol in high amount which is highly toxic for expecting women. But, some scientists also claim that the vitamins A and C present in grapes are beneficial. So, it’s better to consult your doctor before you make a decision whether to munch on this yummy fruit or not.

Plum

Well, this may be surprising to you as plum has many benefits intact for pregnant women. It contains excess of carotene which changes to vitamin A in the body. Moreover, it is loaded with essential nutrients such as protein, fat, iron, phosphorus, and potassium. It is also helpful in detoxification. But, the real risk arises when this fruit is taken in abundance. It has hot features. If it is used a lot by expecting women, it can lead to adverse effects such as spots and breakouts in rashes due to the excess heat generated in the body of the women.

Longan

The problem with longan is same as plum. It is also essential and nutritious and the favorite of many people. But, it has hot features. The body of pregnant women is relatively hot during pregnancy. This heat can increase due to the intake of longan. This can cause constipation. Moreover, it can lead to disordered growth of foetus. The increase in heat can also lead to bleeding or belly ache. In worse situations, miscarriages may also happen.

Jackfruit

Jackfruit is generally a healthy option during pregnancy. But it has some side effects. Overeating of jackfruit can cause abnormal stool conditions and upset stomach due to the high fibre content of the fruit. You may also develop allergy from this fruit. So, if you are allergic to it, make sure to avoid it. If you have some kind of blood disorder; jackfruit can make it worse as it will lead to quick coagulation of blood.  Moreover, it can be harmful for diabetic pregnant women as it changes the glucose rate. Peach

If you are having high blood sugar, you should avoid this fruit as it can increase the amount of sugar in your body. The hair present in peach can lead to allergy and raspy throat which can worsen during pregnancy as the immunity of the body is low. Peach also generates heat in the body. So having too much of this fruit can cause bleeding. But, this can be avoided if the intake of peach is in fewer amounts. The benefits of eating peach during pregnancy are numerous, so you should not restrict eating it, but limit the amount of intake.

Mango

Mango is undoubtedly the favorite of many people. It has many health benefits as well. But, intake of mango in excess amount can have some side effects on pregnant women. Naturally ripened mangoes are the best but artificially ripened mangoes can cause diarrhoea, dizziness, mood swings, headaches, confusion, seizures, sleepiness and tingling in hands and feet. So, it’s better to be careful.

Guava

Guava is a healthy as well as a tasty choice during pregnancy. But, it has high fibre content, which can lead to diarrhoea. Guava is stored using lots of chemicals. These chemicals can cause bacterial infections. So, guava should be washed thoroughly, peeled off and then taken, to avoid any side effects.

Custard apple

Custard apple is a liked by many people due to its distinct taste and aroma. But, pregnant women are adviced to eat less of this fruit due to its hot features. It can heat the body which can lead to fatal results.

Star apple

The story of star apple is quite similar to custard apple. Moreover, eating the peel of star apple can cause constipation due to the presence of acrid substances in the peel.
