The best way to protect one from the virus is to prevent the spread of the virus. Following are some of the measures to take in order to prevent COVID-19 spread :

  • Wash hands frequently and properly. It is recommended to wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. The use of sanitizer which has about 60% alcohol content in it is advised.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth specifically when hands are not washed.

A number of schools and childcare centers have been shut down due to pandemic COVID-19. But if that does not mean children require no more care. They also need to be cautious and:

  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting the surfaces and the objects with which children touch and play is required.
  • People who are sick should avoid meeting other healthy people. If any child gets sick it is important to isolate him from other children to keep others safe. The sick child should be kept away until they are being picked up. It is better to encourage families to keep their kids at home rather than making them go to such childcare centers until they are sick.
  • Covering the mouth and nose with a tissue that would be disposed of, while sneezing and coughing are mandatory. In case, the tissue is not available the elbow should be used to cover the mouth and nose area. It is important to ensure that children have no access to the disposed of tissue or touch the dustbin.
  • Wearing of face mask is not recommended by experts until and unless you are not healthy. The mask is important to be worn by the health workers or the people who are ill.
