Soft and cold objects to chew

It is recommended to give your baby to chew on something when they are teething as this will decrease the pain they are feeling. You can get them a rubbery or wooden object but make sure that it is clean and nontoxic. Whereas, you can give them something cold that will reduce the swelling of your baby’s gums. You can give them a cold spoon that they can suck or freeze their bottle’s nipple or can freeze a wet cloth in the refrigerator and let your baby bite on the cloth. You can also use several soft toys such as rubber ducks etc while they take a bath in the morning.

Essential Oils

There are different essential oils that are helpful in several ways. Some oils can be helpful to reduce the inflammation while others can help to keep your baby calm. However, at this stage your baby may oftentimes feel uncomfortable, it is better if you diffuse lavender essential oil, chamomile or vanilla oil in their rooms so that they can sleep well.

Remove the saliva

Did you know that your baby can develop rashes on the chin due to increased drooling? It is recommended to remove the saliva using a soft cloth which will prevent the chin from getting irritated. You can also apply natural products such as almond oil, shea butter, calendula, coconut oil and magnesium oil in case your baby develops rashes on the face or anywhere else.

Massage

Give a gentle massage to your baby so that they feel relaxed. You can try to distract them with various things like games, objects or just casually playing with them. There will be days when your baby will be suffering from extreme tooth pain, you can just try rubbing their back. You can gently massage their gums, cheeks, and ears if your baby allows you to do so. In other cases, you can also apply a tiny amount of clove essential oil to their gums.

  • Do not offer your baby with teething biscuits that have a high sugar content, as it may result in cavities.
  • Do not keep a teething ring in the freezer as it may cause damage to your baby’s gums if it gets too cold or hard.
  • Don’t apply clove oil on the gums of babies who are under the age of 2 years.
  • Use a gentle moisturizer to treat drool rash as this will soothe the irritated skin.
  • You can also apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly over the area, it will help to prevent future rashes.
