15 Home Remedies For Bronchitis In Children

1. Hot Coconut Oil

Heat some coconut oil and add 4 crushed tablets of camphor. Apply the prepared oil on your child’s chest.

2. Turmeric Powder

Turmeric is the best natural remedy to get relief from bronchitis symptoms because of its anti-inflammatory properties that work by pulling out the excess mucus thus providing ultimate relief. Add ½ a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of warm milk and serve it to your child before bedtime.

3 Garlic

Garlic is an amazing home remedy for acute bronchitis because of amazing antibiotic and antibacterial properties. Peel and chop three fresh garlic cloves and add them to a glass of milk and boil for some time and ask your child to drink it before bed.

Onion contains antiviral and antibacterial properties that soothe inflammation and throat soreness. Simply give a teaspoon of raw onion juice to your child on an empty stomach every morning. Another option is to serve raw onion to your child in the form of salad.

5. Fenugreek Seeds

Boil some fenugreek seeds in water. Strain and let cool. Add some honey and ask your child to drink this water.

6 Ginger

Ginger contains anti-inflammatory and immune building properties that help to treat sore and inflamed bronchial tubes. Boil some ginger in water and ask your child to sip this water through the day.

7. Lemon

Lemon contains citrus properties and, therefore, helps to get rid of bronchitis. Boil a cup of water and grate a teaspoonful of lemon rind in it. Allow it to steep for a few minutes. Serve this water to your child at 3-4 times during the day.

8. Orange Juice

Orange is loaded with vitamin C and, therefore, helps to strengthen the immune system. Moreover, fruit juices serve as the best remedies to treat bronchitis. Orange juice not only provides essential vitamins and nutrients, but also helps to soothe the inflamed throat.

9. Salt Water

Salt water has the potential to cut the irritating mucus from the bronchial membranes. Besides, it also soothes irritated throat. Add some salt in water and stir well. Use this water to gargle 3-4 times during the day.

10. Oregano Oil

Oregano oil helps to reduce the soreness and deep coughing. Just put a drop or two under your child’s tongue once a day to treat severe cough and difficult breathing.

11. Epsom Salt

An Epsom salt bath is highly beneficial to relieve symptoms of bronchitis. Add 1 ½ kg of Epsom salt in lukewarm bath water. Ask your child to soak his body in this water just before bedtime to fight off bronchitis.

12. Eucalyptus Oil

Use eucalyptus oil in steam therapy to soften the mucus. This oil contains antibacterial properties that heal the burning sensation as well as inflamed throat.

13. Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds contain medicinal properties that help to treat bronchitis. They also relieve chest pain. Mix one teaspoon each of sesame seeds, linseed, and honey along with a pinch of common salt. Mix it well and serve to your child before bedtime.

14. Water

It is important to keep the body hydrated when suffering from bronchitis. At least ten glasses of water a day. Alternatively, you can also serve fruit and vegetable juices to your child with a little honey added to it.

15. Mustard

Grind dry mustard and flour in the ratio 1:4 and prepare a runny paste. Mix it with some olive oil. Spread this paste on a clean washcloth or muslin cloth and place it on the chest to get relief from bronchitis symptoms.

There is no better than home remedies to treat bronchitis in children. While other forms of treatment do work, when combined with these remedies you will notice your child’s health improve rapidly.
