So the fertile period extends from days 10 to 18 in a 28 days menstrual cycle.While pregnancy is considered to last 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of the last menstrual cycle, term pregnancy which was earlier considered to extend from 3 weeks earlier (37 weeks) to 42 weeks is now classified as ‘early,’ ‘full,’ ‘late,’ and ‘post-term’ to reflect subtle differences in outcome of pregnancies.
