Sarojini Naidu was an Indian independence activist and also a well-known poet. She was born in Hyderabad and was educated in Chennai, London and Cambridge. Ahgoranath Chattopadhyaya, father of Sarojini Naidu was a scientist and was the founder of Nizam college, Hyderabad. Also, her mother Barada Sundari Devi was one of the famous poets in Bengali.   1. Sarojini Naidu’s first work into literature was a play named ‘Maher Munner’ and has impressed Nizam of Hyderabad and he awarded her a scholarship to study.

  3. Sarojini Naidu passed her matriculation examination from the University of Madras.
  4. Her father Aghoranath Chattopadhyaya holds doctorate of Science from Edinburgh University.
  5. While in England, she came into contact with Nobel laureate Arthur Simon and Edmond Gausse. Gausse is the one who advised her to stick to Indian themes and focus her poetry on contemporary Indian life and events.
  6. Sarojini Naidu was the first Indian woman to become the President of Indian National Congress.
  7. She was the first woman to become the governor of state in India.
