Monsoon season is here and brought with it the quintessential rains along. Most of the days, sun light is blocked away by the clouds it is highly unpredictable to say when it starts to rain. In other words, most kids are stuck inside home and can get bored because of it. Not being able to go out and play with their friends can be disappointing for kids. On the other hand, being at home, most kids get used to watching TV for hours together. Watching TV for hours together is not a good idea and your kids need some kind of activity to keep them busy throughout the day.

Well, here are some rainy day or monsoon indoor activities for kids and pre-schoolers.

Monsoon Indoor Activities for Kids and Pre-schoolers

Playing with blocks: Playing with blocks, especially LEGO blocks can be a very good way to pass time. LEGOs have instructions on how to create some basic structures such as houses, vehicles, monuments, etc. By using these instructions and with little creativity, wonderful things can be made out of LEGO blocks. On one hand, your kids will learn about 3 dimensional structures and on the other hand, its so much fun.

Playing with cardboard boxes: If you happen to have cardboard boxes at home,  you could give those to your kids to play. These cardboard boxes can be used to make some variety of things ranging from a kid’s castle to a kid’s car. Give some ideas to your kids and let them experiment with those cardboard boxes.

Playing with playdough: Playing with playdough is perhaps one of the most fun things to do for kids. Have some colors mixed with playdough and let your kids play with the dough. They can play with the dough for hours together and don’t get bored so easily. And on top of that, you get to see your child’s creativity in making various shapes.

Imprinting various shapes with playdough: If you happen to have various shapes such as triangle or square or rectangle, etc, you can use them to imprint those shapes on playdough and teach your kids about various shapes and their names. If you cannot find such shapes at home, you can easily make using pieces of cardboard.

Playing with balloons indoors: If you have some leftover balloons from your kids’ birthdays or any other occasion, then perhaps you could use them now. There’s no way that kids won’t like balloons. You just need to have patience in inflating them. Kids love the way balloons bounce off of things. And a piece of advice, please be ready to bear the loud BANGS as the balloons pop.

Having a dance party: It’s another fun way to let your kids have some good time with some rocking music. Pick some of their favorite songs, play them to your kids and let them dance away for some time. Make sure to treat them well as they’ll be hungry after such a long dance party.

Playing Musical Chairs: Musical Chairs is another fun indoor game during rains. You’ll need those small chairs depending upon the number of kids. And this game will be more fun with more kids to play. So, you could ask your neighboring kids to join and let the kids have some good time.

Roads with masking tape: If you happen to have masking tape at home, then you could make a road, sticking the masking tape on your floor and let your kids drag along their toy cars along that road. Make sure to have a long road so that your kids wont get bored of it because there no more road.

Crafts with Shredded Paper: If you happen to have a lot of shredded paper at home, make a fun use of it. Encourage your kids to draw some animals or things that they know and stick a bunch of shredded paper on those drawings and you have yourself a nice and creative piece of craft from your kids. Also, be ready to clean up the mess because kids would love to play and throw those pieces of papers every possible direction.
