1. Home Alone

This movie captures the festive spirit of Christmas and filled with mischief and pranks. Mastermind plots Kevin uses to defend his home against burglar is an all time favorite. Home Alone 2 is equally interesting and again is woven around Christmas.

2. The Polar Express

Polar Express is watching the Christmas through a young boy who travels to North Pole by the Polar Express and gets to see Santa and all the action there.

3. Elf

A toddler sent to North Pole accidentally and grows up between elves. Realizing he doesn’t fit in when an adult, he travels to New York in search of his identity dressed like an elf and this causes quite a ruckus.

The film first released in 1947 and then remade is an absolute Christmas classic. This a heartwarming story of a young girl Susan, who doubts about the reality of Santa but convinced by a store Santa that he is the real one, gives her something to believe in. A perfect watch for the kids who still cling on to the idea of Santa Claus.

When Santa Claus falls from Scott Calvin’s roof top, Scott has to take up the half        done job of delivering gifts to the kids. And what unrolls will leave you and your kids in squeals of laughter. A fun adventure by Disney for the whole family.

6. It’s a wonderful life

This a classic movie where a businessman who is busy with making money falls on hard times and despairs. An angel shows him there is more to life than money and material wealth. If you are looking for a nice moral story to watch over the weekend, then this is the one for you. It is a perfect movie to teach kids the value of family and good deeds.

7. How the Grinch stole the Christmas

Based on Dr. Seuss’ book, the story is of sadistic Grinch who plays pranks on the dwellers of Whoville. Invited for Christmas by a young girl, Grinch comes to the party, but at the turn of events plans to ruin the Christmas by stealing all the gifts. How Grinch realizes that spirit of Christmas lies not in gifts but in celebrating together is the plot of the story.

8. Jingle all the way

Things get crazy after Thanksgiving as people stalk shops for gifts  for Christmas. The rat race to get one’s hand on best gifts in the last minute shopping lead to hilarious situations. Arnold Schwarzenegger as Howard Langston races against time to get the demanded gift for his son, which is almost sold out.

9. The nightmare before Christmas

Based on the poem by Tim Burton, this animated movie features Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown. Jack wanders into Christmas town by chance and is lured by its festive spirit. Wishing to take some festivities back to his town, he kidnaps Santa Claus and what follows after that is chaos.

10. The Harry Potter series

Though not exactly Christmas themed, this movie series on magic makes it a must watch if you are planning for a movie marathon or back to back watch. The story of young magician Harry Potter and his arch enemy Voldemart that climaxes into a war between the good and the evil is perfect for Christmas.

11. A Christmas carol

The classic by Charles Dickens is made and remade into movies for years now. The story of a miser, Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by three Christmas ghosts of past, present and future, teach him over a night, the importance of Christmas spirit. He learns that Christmas is all about giving and sharing not holding on to one’s greed. You can see many versions of this story, including the Disney’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol or The Mupper Christmas Carol which the kids can identify with.
